Our arrival set the tone for the rest of our stay. We were dropped off across the street from the hotel and told to haul our luggage up the stairs, across a walkway and into the hotel lobby. The hotel itself is ok - no more than that - but the staff is very hard working and really trying to please. Forget about the a la carte restaurants; the food there is no better than the buffet and in some cas...

The Sunwing flight departing from Vancouver went smoothly. The hotel, staff, food, service, room were A-1. The Sunwing flight back was a nightmare - the Sunwing Agent in Mazatlan met us in the lobby of the hotel as had been agreed upon the night before however she pulled us and our luggage off the bus as apparently no room on the bus and we got a cab to the Mazatlan airport. Once we arrived at the...
If you come to the Hotel castilla you will see people sitting in the lobby who you would think are hotel employees. They are actually time share workers trying to con you into buying a property in Mexico.if you go with there scam and decline they have what is called an exit package and will offer you 100.00 to attend and they will tell you they represent VIP travel which is a total scam you will be...

We had a wonderful time staying at the El Cid Castilla resort in Mazatlan. The food was great there was alot of choices. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The servers were very attentive. We had a special server Slyvestre who helped us with any questions we had and went out of his way to make us feel at home. We enjoyed participating in the activities which were alot of fun, I took spanish les...

As a wedding present, we received a honeymoon trip to Mexico- I booked the trip, specifying that this was our honeymoon, as the hotel offered a free upgrade for honeymooners. When we arrived, there was no record of our request, so we were given a poolview room. I asked a receptionist, who then contacted our rep and we were upgraded to a gorgeous oceanview room, they also gave us a dinner certifi...

Six of us travelled together and we were all impressed with this hotel. The rooms were comfortable, hotel was clean - there was always someone sweeping, mopping or dusting all hours of the day and night. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food on the buffet was good - we were on the all inclusive and would eat breakfast and lunch at the hotel but dine out for dinner (you can only do s...

The hotel was very clean, room service was very good. They cleaned our rooms twice a day. Food was really good too, many good resturants were included in the all-inclusive. the buffe' at dinner does not have very good food. the pools are clean and the hotel has one of the nicest beaches. The staff is very friendly, helpful and nice. The only thing that gets my rating down is the music. the music i...

Hotel and location are very nice. Rooms were clean but older, could use a facelift. Meals were good except for dinner buffet. The way food was laid out was cafeteria style. Flourescent lights over food don't add much to presentation. We had a great time in Mazatlan. I guess one bad meal at supper helped us from gaining to much weight. We had a great time at resort. Service was great.

The El Cid is the all around best family resort in Mazatlan, it is also the largest. There are numerous, large free flowing pools with a waterslide and a kids pool. The food is very standard all inclusive fare, but the breakfast restaurant up by the beach is fantastic. I would recommend going with the All Inclusive option, it can get quite pricey otherwise. Overall, this is a solid 3.5 star that ...
